Classic Glass Studios offers a wide range of finished stained glass art panels.
As our customer, you may wish to select an art glass panel currently available in our inventory. These standard panels are rotated in and out of our stock, and are primarily utilized as "Art Festival" show panels. They come in a wide array of architectural styles, sizes and prices, and can be seen at any of a number of Art Festivals,(click on Show Schedule to find a venue near you). Generally, these panels constitute our "mainstay", and have, over the years evolved into "the best of the best", and represent our most popular designs.
However, if you are interested in a custom, one-of-a-kind stained glass art panel, Classic Glass Studios is ready to take your conceptual ideas through the preliminary design process, into construction, and through to finalized installation.
Our methods moving forward, how we arrive at your costs, and our design / build process will all figure in to your selection of Classic Glass Studios. Therfore, we offer the following outline of methods and costs, for your review and consideration.
Costs Budget Estimates & Methodology
Following is a list of criteria that will determine the costs of your custom stained glass art panel:
- Size;
- types of glass selected;
- the number of total pieces of glass in the finished panel; and
- amount of design time necessary to develop the cartoon.
Here are a few things that will affect both the design and final costs of the custom panel:
- Size: Will the panel hang in the opening, or will a “full install” be necessary? With a free hanging installation the panel can be removed for cleaning (both the window behind the panel and the panel itself), and can easily be moved to another location at a later date. With a full install, we will build to a tolerance of ¼”, which will require a minimum of a quarter round trim molding be installed after the panel is set;
- Type of Glass: As long as we stay with domestically manufactured glass that is not hand blown or hand rolled, this will not affect the final costs. However, should you elect to utilize Blenko antique, or other hand blown glass, costs would increase;
- Number of pieces of Glass: Very important. On average, custom glass panels currently run in the $5 to $7 / piece minimum costs. While we won’t sacrifice depth and texture by limiting the number of pieces, we also do not want to loose definition by creating an image that is “too busy”; and
- Design Time: Very important, and the most costly aspect of the project. The longer the time spent creating the cartoon, the more expensive the finished panel. To limit this design time, the more information you can provide on your interior design, architectural design, color scheme, and theme will help in holding cost down. If we can select a preexisting cartoon, one where the art work has already been completed, and manipulate the design to your size, costs will stay in the $125 to $150 range.
Listed here is our methodology for moving forward:
- Please provide us with your current mailing address, and the location of the project, so that we may send you our Commission Agreement;
- Once you receive our Commission Agreement, please read the agreement, sign and return to our studios along with your deposit of $100. This will become our contract;
- Once we have received the signed contract and your deposit we will begin the preliminary design and costs budget estimate process. This will require conversations with you regarding the items listed above in “4”.
- Once a general idea of design is established we will complete the preliminary design and cost budget estimate, and forward this work product to you for your review and approval. It is at this point that glass selection will also be addressed;
- Once approved, we ask that you sign the preliminary design “approved as submitted”, and return to our studios along with your deposit, bringing the total paid to 50% of the costs budget estimate;
- After we have received your approvals, the panel will be taken to construction; and,
- We will either deliver the panel to your home, deliver the panel to you at a show, or you are always welcome to pick-up the panel at our studio, whatever is most convenient for you.
